When someone needs to find a business that can give them the services they need but it is either the first time they've needed the service or they don't need it very often or they want a new provider - how do you think they find it?  How many people do you think are reaching for the yellow pages?  Not as many as it used to be that's for sure. 

The thing you need to remember is that our society is always on the go.  People are busy and they want to do one thing while they are doing another.  If they are commuters they do things while they are on the bus with their Blackberry's or netbooks.  If they are business people who are running from meeting to meeting, they do little things while waiting for the elevator or waiting in line at Starbucks.  And that means the Yellowpages doesn't work as well for them. 

THEY ARE ONLINE doing web searches!  The question is - are they going to find you?

If you want to be found by the people who are really spending  money you need to be online and you need to be easily findable.  That means you need a website.  Unless you're a web designer you'll have to hire someone.  But the cost of a website can run anywhere from $400 and up and that's not including the content that needs to go up there.  You need to have WORDS on your pages for the search engines to find you!
