Students have talents, and energy! In the volleyball, basketball, football... teams we have students performing up to and beyond their expectations.
A well coached league will have players, referees, media, marketing, and coaches in training. The players will be assigned roles on the team that uses their talents and expands their abilities. All others will also need special training and will receive invaluable hands on experiences.
It is understandable why school leagues and even intramural sports are important.
Like sports, caffeterias. Presently almost every school contracts out cafeteria services to private companies, while students stand-by idle.
Students can run their own cafeteria's. We can easily joke about quality of food, but we would not joke about the quality of a high-school soccer game?
Especially schools that have food programs already. Students labour in classrooms while they could be learning to run a restaurant and serving the public.
Lastly, the money that could be generated for schools through cafeterias, canteens and school stores is taken by an outside company.
